From reports I've seen looks like Scott will be released by the Bungles if Westbrook accepts their offer. This guy can still play, although he has been a bit banged up the last couple of yrs.

    Any interest by the Panthers?

Pipe dream. Panthers won't be grabbing any more free agents, period. Yes, I too beleive that he would be a sweet addition, but we just don't have the $$$. We are going to have to release a few people to get our future bust (oops, did I say that?) Peppers and his fellow rookies under the salary cap. Peppers alone will run us 2 or 3 million this year, and we're only 1.5 mill under the cap. You do the math.

Never say never. The Math can change if players get released, as you know. You're probably right, but things can change so speculation doesn't hurt. Plus, there is nothing to talk about right now. :D

BTW: Peppers will be the most talented player the Panthers have EVER had. Its fine to be "glass half empty" if that is your progative. I disagree however.

If the focus Peppers on his DE play for now, he should be OK. But if they continue to move him around, it's gonna cause problems w/ his development.
On Scott, I say NO! He has had NUMEROUS attitude problems in Cinncy to go along with his recent outburst of injuries. Sounds like our past coming back to haunt us if we pick him up...big money, no return.
Scott is talented, no doubt. However, he will require a heavy paycheck.

I am not a "glass half empty" guy as you put it. I think the Panthers as a team will be very much improved from last year, especially offensively. I expect no less than 4 or 5 wins. I just look at the stats and the situation. We all know the following:

    1) Every year out of the top ten picks, there are always 2 or 3 "busts".

    2) Peppers does not have the best work ethic, nor the best attitude (as evidenced by his comments to the media) we've ever seen.

    3) Talent does not always equal production.

I have to agree that Peppers may ALREADY be the most talented player we have ever had. Few players from the college ranks have ever possessed his physical abilities. In 2 or 3 years, I think he will be a "solid" player, just never a great one, and certainly not worthy of the number 2 pick we spent on him. For Peppers equal, I would point you to Dan Wilkinson in Washington. Had all kinds of ability coming out of OSU (could be wrong about his college, memory kind of foggy), and currently is a starter, but will never be considered for the Pro Bowl or the Hall of Fame, so I think the Bengals would consider him a bust.
By the way, I consider a bust any player (college draftee or free agent) who does not live up to what he is paid, ala Chuck Smith, ala Sean Gilbert, ala Timmy B.

    Let the games begin,

I'm thinking there will be roster cuts after this mini-camp.

I think that was the purpose of this camp, to win a job.

    People I wonder about:

    Mangum
    Donnalley
    Williams
    Kyle
    Jeffers
    Montgomery???
One of the Coners we signed. Jenkins, Vinson, or Taylor? or 2 of them?

I just can't figure out WHO. It has to happen, though.

Yeah, I don't see us signing a recevier, or anyone for much more than minimum.

Which comments? I've heard talk of this but never seen them. I'd like to read them. Do you have links?

    Thanks.

Uhh, sorry meatpile, someone else will have to post a link, I can't find one, it happened a while back, when Peppers was getting moved all around, a few of his comments had a negative tone to them. I agree, I don't think he should be moved around like that so early in his career. His comments were nothing major, just not exactly what you want someone to whom you are getting ready to shell out a 10 mil + signing bonus to to be spouting to the media.

i read all those comments when they were moving him around, and none of them had negative conotations. no one knows if he'll be a superstar, too hard to predict. to me when people say he'll be a bust, it's just so they can say i told you so later. it's the easiest thing to do and requires no thinking.

You don't seem to get it; I HOPE IM WRONG!! I am actually pulling for Peppers, in fact I am a UNC fan!! I would like nothing more than at this time next year or 2 years from now, for you guys to be laughing at me calling me a dumbass for thinking that JP could possibly be a bust. And the comments that I read, JP was quietly questioning Fox's decision to move him around. Like I said, not that his concern isn't warranted, but not something you discuss with the media. JP himself has also publicly said that he is a loner, he has almost no friends by choice (not exactly a team player). Please do not misconstrue my comments, I hope he goes off this year Jevon Kearse style. Then all you guys can rightfully call me an idiot, and I will agree. I just don't see it happening at this point.
