opens up strong right with broken I and Walls flanked right in front. Motion to backside and Cowboys adjust - OLB goes outside with Walls and two others compensate by spread. A split second after Walls squares the ball snaps, Hoover starts heading inside and Smith gets handoff toward left but cuts right behind Weinke's handoff - a counter. Well sold by Hoover who darts back outside and takes on contain. OL did a great job of walling off inside - esp Terry just straight blowing Ekuban off the ball and inside. Hell yeah. Hoover ties up his man (Woodson) and Smith gains good yards. If we can get this good of blocking at the point every game we need to re-sign Terry and assign a bodyguard to him.

Motion allowed the play to happen though, that third LB would have been unblocked since Hoover got the SS.

same formation except Hoover traded weakside - then Walls goes in motion backside as well. Linebackers adjust - one comes off line. Sweep that side, ugly. Smith gets nothing. Nesbit and Hoover each find a block but there's no rhyme or reason and Smith has to weave around.

third down, Hoover comes in motion strongside outside formation. Pass...Steussie handles his man and Smith handles the guy outside him. Terry gives up a little too much depth. Hoover gets the slant and gets the first down.

back to first formation. Same motion, same play, same adjustments, more yards. Smith sidestepped a guy and went a little farther.

Empty set, receiver screen to Foster. Uneventful. Back to the first formation, the strong I y-trade, but receiver screen to SSmith for not much.

3rd and 3 - two TE both flanked right, then Walls trades left. Sweep fake right, play action goes to Muhsin deep. extended arms fall short but flag. he was mugged.

ball to 30. toss sweep right, with Nesbit pulling again. Smith loses yards because Nesbit's trap man got around him and that allowed pursuit to get around and toward the ball. Bad.

Steveophone gets the ball on four wide...Smith puts moves on but just a bad play. Don't like all these receiver screens.
3 and 13 - same formation, Walls motion left. Walls blocks, lets his man get too much depth but then takes him down. Dump to Lamar Smith doesn't get enough, and FG is good.

Dallas first and ten - simple. We're looking to bring a corner, we do, but he gets picked up on the boot. Peppers slips his block and takes Carter down. Any other lineman, IMO, would have gotten juked off.
Next play - they send Morgan off left side and he makes the play, just like Fields' blitz last week. Rucker gets unblocked and assists after mistakenly following Carter at first.

3 and 20 - quick out but Morgan keeps up with Galloway after the catch. Not much to worry about there.

Smith gets nothing after reversing field twice on punt.
Four wides to open, Moose far right comes in motion to seal block end. Sloppy sweep blocking gives Foster not much hole when he turns upfield.

They then replay the Bates thing. The fatass who came in and blocked waited for Bates to get hung up before he hit. He passed up Cooper to block to fold Bates. Fuck. He deliberately passed up an unblocked man to hit a blocked man.

playaction right turns into a middle screen to Smith. Smith takes it upfield and it goes a good ways partly thanks to a Mitchell block. Donnalley doubles him and that seems wasteful.

Empty backfield turns to one back as Foster comes in motion. Then Foster gets the draw, each lineman is driving good but the numbers just catch up to them. six defenders to five linemen. SHould have turned it outside. second and four.

Strongside broken I and motion to strong side for Walls. Weinke doesn't really sell the play fake that great but most guys don't actually offer up the ball on the fake anyway. Looks more obvious on tape. Fires hard to Muhammad on curl. Good progressions and hits the short route for near-first down instead of running. Three wides but one is Moose, who trades right . Smith dives right and converts but offsides is taken instead. Replay shows good block by Hoover as well.

Foster in, Three wides left, one motion right, playaction right coming back deep wide to Smith. I'd have put someone in underneath because the easy completion and RAC would have gotten first and goal.

Foster split back behind LT, two wides each side. Walls motion makes him the other back. he goes on flare route, Foster blocks. Great blocking again, Smith left sideline TD. corner gambled and lost.

Dallas first down, sweep left behind motion. RUcker takes on block and cuts RB down along with Navies.

Two tights, then an audible. We were bringing both outside linebackers, one from each side, and the SS was walked up. For some reason Carter calls a run. peppers takes on fullback, swats him away, and makes tackle on sweep. Morgan assists with hard hit. TV shows 97 Panther yards, 2 for Cowboys.

third down, Morgan and Cousin blitz and Buckner/Peppers stunt that same side, Peppers trailing. Rucker gets outside and beats his man before the blitz can get there. Wow.

Punt. Smith darts around, darts around, falls on his ass.

five wides to come out - out move to Walls good for five. Moose needed to be blocking.

Moose blocks on this one - line blocks but LB comes free. Moose comes across and nails him.
Woodson snuffs it out, TV says safety blitz.

3rd and 3...pro form, split backs, Muhammad in motion, both backs release, Hoover gets skinny post, and first down. Personal foul against Donnalley, first down but ball is placed back.

broken I with flanker strong, play action fake by line and RBs but Weinke throws one step to
Moose who spins once and gets good yards...notice James in at G for second quarter. same formation, same motion weak, sweep strong off counter. Same formation again, slant to Smith off three steps. I notice how fast Walls is off the snap and off the line when he's tight.

Draw play Foster off RG. James and Terry lead their gys outside, everyone has a man except Steussie who is across formation upfield looking to take out pursuit. Foster eludes Woodson but gets taken down by Williams and a LB. Drags then five yards.

ODd blocking scheme leaves Steussie free and the back blocking backside. Out to Smith, incomplete. TV suggests interference but it isn't.

Second down - shotgun, then Walls goes in motion to become a back. The odd thing is that at the same time Steve Smith moves along the line toward formation. Weinke calls timeout, I think Walls had wrong assignment.

Three wides, inside handoff on draw to Goings. 3rd and 5 on uneventful carry. Line call changes before snap, but to no avail, Glover brings Weinke down. Beats Nesbit straight up on speed. FG.

Dallas first and ten 11 mins left in half. Pro formation Carter drops and hits Galloway for 8 as he goes to ground.

Pro I, Sweep right, Buckner gets penetration, forces Hambrick into Navies. Good pursuit backside as well, Peppers adequate against seal block.

Two tights 3rd and 4, three step drop fly route to Williams, no catch but flag. Looks like COusin get hand on him but doesn't turn him that badly. Questionable IMO. Grant was in good position over top.

Two tights, sweep left, Rucker holds off his block and penetrates, Morgan and peppers work down line and clean up. Three tight s now - Jenkins gets penetration and gets free but can't bring him down - Navies cleans up for the stuff. Great flow to ball by team .

3rd and 10. three wides two backs, screen. Peppers comes across line to stuff the screen behind his blocking. hell yeah.

    punt. ball at 3.

Carolina first down...two TE right, motion left, Foster gets 4 off RG and a pile. Gets great fake move on the guy who came free right...

three receivers right, sweep to that side, 50 comes from behind and ankle tackles Foster. 3rd and 6.

Four wides but Weinke calls TO.

Three wides left now, but Walls comes in motion. Draw play goes nowhere to Foster, Terry's man came free. Punt.

First down Dallas, Carter rolls right off two TEs off pressure from Buckner and Fields. Throws it away.

Run play - Peppers gets upfield and gets taken out of play. Fields blitzzes inside and nails ballcarryer. Jenkins got great penetration and made it happen. 3rd ad 10.

stop route by Bryant for first down, no rush at all. Two TE, draw play, Morgan stuffs him. It was all Morgan - everyone else was blocked and Dan laid the hit on him.Two TEs, I form - Haywood given ball sweep right, Jenkins makes the slide down the line and makes tackle. Peppers taken outside of play.

Rambo gets ball on quick strike, popped by Morgan. Howard on loose coverage. 52 yard FG attempt is good.

two minute O - two wides two backs, dum off to Foster who reverses field and loses a few yards from his initial catch. 2nd and 4. SHotgun - dump to Foster again on quick strike, stiffarms DB but gets pushed out of bounds. 3rd and 1 - gun, one back with him, dump to Goings outside no good and Weinke looks to sidelines wondering what the hell. punt.

3 wides. Quick out to Rambo, short post broken up by Grant, then in to Rambo for first down. Quick sideline throw to Rambo, Minter gets good lick. Hambrick gets two on throw to sideline, 3rd down gets dump underneath to Bryant who gets first and gets out of bounds. Good pressure up front but need tighter coverage. TV shows Burton sucking air after fast paced drive.

We bring a LB and Cousin but to no end result, Morgan covering a receiver and does good but not quite good enough as he gets beaten to the sideline. 2nd down. Bryant on slant first down, send FG unit on. That's the half.

Hutchinson in at QB to open half. Sweep left to Haywood, good linebacker pursuit byt Burton and DL has trouble getting up line.

at this point I'm rightly tired of sitting here so this will be a place marker for future tape study should I give a damn.

missed game situation, individal play discussion, and some of us tape for various purposes. I decided to write down the observations from watching, it's been fairly popular based on last year. I do it mostly for my own record, bt I discuss with people about this as well. Do you have a problem or concern with this?
