who ya got? for me, the al is a no-brainer, and the nl isn't much harder.

al---santana. an incredible season. he is the most dominant in the game right now.

nl---clemens. i hate to say it, but you can't argue with 18-4.

sidenote. if the dbacks didn't suck so bad this year, the unit would have walked about with the nl award. his numbers are outstanding except for the 16-14.

al, no brainer? curt shilling, 21-6 3.26, santana 20-6 2.61...

Santana pitches in a weaker division, Shilling pitches in the AL East, compared to the Central, difference of 30 more wins in the East. Why can't Shilling get it?

santana led the league in strikeouts. doesn't have the boston offense behind him in helping him in those wins. santana went like 21 games or something without allowing more than 2 earned runs. thats why i say no-brainer. besides, thats .6 difference in era, which is a pretty big gap.

no, but offense affects win/loss records. basically, thats the only line that schilling has that compares with santana. don't get me wrong, schilling has had a great season.

i mean, the unit is a perfect example of a good offense helping, and a bad offense hurting. he has the best #'s across the board of any pitcher, other than his w/l record.
