They only have to have word to the league by 4pm. They can announce whenever they want (or not).

Someone elsewhere said there was a 5:30 press conference, but no word on whether it would be on radio or TV anywhere.

Panthers looking to swap players for draft picks:ylsuper:

    By Darin Gantt The Herald
    (Published September 2‚ 2006)

CHARLOTTE -- The Carolina Panthers have to cut 22 players today to get to the league's 53-man roster limit by 4 p.m. Unless, of course, they don't.
According to multiple league sources, the Panthers were actively seeking to trade some of their spare parts for draft picks heading into the final hours.

The target for a number of teams remains their depth along the defensive line.

They'll probably keep nine and have at least 11 prospects for those spots.

Among the players other teams are curious about are defensive tackles Kindal Moorehead, Jordan Carstens and Tony Brown, along with end Jovan Haye. Carstens is the one they seem least likely to part with.

Not all of them will make it here, though there's some degree of incentive for other teams to make a deal rather than wait for the waiver process to work. Since there will be a demand for some of the Panthers cuts, teams not at the top of the claiming order might be willing to part with a late pick in order to secure the help they need.http://www.buzzfans.com/sports/football/panthers/story/6070415p-5324259c.html
