I went to spotrac and that financial stuff is gibberish to me. I get that signing bonus is prorated over the deal, and hits all at once when the player is cut. Or over two years if it's a June 1, right?

Anyhow, it was confusing as hell to me figuring the bonuses. I did see that his '14 salary of 1.5 mil is fully guaranteed. I saw the '14 option bonus.

If we cut him after this year, what would the hit be?

edit: So it's 7.4 in dead money next year to cut him I guess. Is that it and we could be done?

I didn't realize the 2014 salary is guaranteed. So that would make the hit $8.9 mil, which is probably too much. That means Stewart will be a huge part of the cap until 2016.

Yeah, and the sucky thing is that vets will gravitate to teams where they think they have a chance to win a Super Bowl. I don't think Atlanta does, but the players and media do.

I pooh-pooh the site a lot, but I just read this for whatever it's worth: "Charles Godfrey graded as Pro Football Focus’ No. 82 safety in 2012." We're used to Godfrey because he's always back there, but that doesn't mean he's any good. The pass rush will have to be amazing this season because the defensive backs are simply terrible. It's easily the worst group in the league, which is why Carolina allowed the highest opposing completion percentage and the most yards per passing attempt.
