Running backs suffer a massive and quick drop off after they reach 30. Michael Turner was still a very good running back in 2011 (nearly 1,400 yards) but then pretty much fell off the cliff last season. That's what happens at the position. You can be fooled into believing that a guy has 2-4 really good years left, and then, bang. He's done. And even the ones who can still contribute usually get passed over for younger talent. That's just the way it is.

Hm. Well....that is a good point, actually.

Ok, I'll concede to you and Toll Booth there, that history favors you...

I can't see him out of the leauge as long as he is effective however - and with the NFL going to a two back system so often now, I truly believe he has many years left to give at a high level.

Maybe his contracts will be smaller, and he won't be the primary, but he'll be running in the league still, and he'll be helping teams win.

To be fair, I'll research this a little more in a bit.

That and you can get RBs late in the draft at a cheap rate. See Terrell Davis

Purrsy, it would be a miracle if he lasted two more years. What's really most likely to happen is he finishes a year here as co-starter, and then sits around his house next August waiting for a training camp injury.

That's pretty much what happened with Stephen Davis here. We got him right at the time where he still had another good year to offer, and gave it to us, then it was done. Pretty insane that Fox kept wheeling him out there in 2005. Stubborn fuckhead should have went with Foster and Goings the whole time.

DeAngelo ought to go to Hurney and drop to his knees and blow him. He can retire at 30-32 rich as fuck. To DeAngelos credit he has been a great teammate. Never got in trouble with the law and such
