Wrong. The point was that State underachieves when they are supposed to be good. At least this has been the pattern since Sloan left. I thought that I clarifieed that pretty well with this post. Guess not.

I think State underachieves when they're supposed to be good and overachieves when they are supposed to suck. Generally that normally keeps them middle of the pack... no pun intended. They continue to stay there. Honestly its really kinda odd.

Some of that is true. However, being a State fan all my life and watching them since I could open my eyes, we haven't had but maybe 2-3 teams that were supposed to be really good. Usually, the Pack is picked to be anywhere between 3-6 in the ACC and that is usually where we finish. If people call that underachieving that is fine, I just have a different definition of the word I guess
So my only point was that saying pretty much every team that was supposed to be good in the last 25 years is not so much an accurate statement.

And hell, I think our 1983 story of overachievment should make up for ALL of the underachieving teams we may have had in the last 25 years. For a bunch of no names that had to win the conference tournament to even make it in the NCAA's and then knock off one of the best college teams assembled in Houston with Akeem and Drexler!! I'll take that story in our history with a couple of underachieving teams any day. I still get goose bumps when I see Jimmy V running around franticly looking for someone to hug. Amazing story.
