The Cubs ass raped the A's on this trade. They get Rich Harden and Gauden along with another for a decent prospect or two who haven't done shit in a while.

I guess the A's just threw in the towel for the Angels to win the west. If Harden can stay healthy he'll be a GREAT pickup for the Cubs

What's the rest of Harden's contract look like? If he makes 15 more starts and doesn't miss a playoff start, it's a heist. His DL stats are almost as impressive as his pitching stats.

Anytime you can get a staff ace whos ERA is <3 in the AL you've done your job. I don't have facts but I bet the AL pitchers who come over to the NL do better at least in the short term. The Cubs bullpen still makes me wonder though

IF (HUUUUGE if) Harden can stay healthy, this is straight up highway robbery. He is due for a long stint on the DL..

I'm shocked Oakland would deal away a good player. Let me guess, they're building for the future.

Billy Beane is one of the best in the business. He's traded away
    • Mark Mulder
    • Barry Zito
    • Tim Hudson
    • Dan Haren
    • Rich Harden
and still kept the A's competitive. He understands he is a small market team and adapted. Of course that trade of Hudson got him squat but the rest have at least got them something decent in return.

I wouldn't doubt it if everyone sent to the A's ends up winning 15+ games and hitting over .300. They always have someone come out of nowhere. Gallagher (while not near Harden's level) is a pretty good young pitcher who could be a good back end of the rotation pitcher in the next couple of years.

I think Beane saw a chance to unload a guy who has pitched 277 innings the last four years and took what he could get. The Cubs just got the AL version of Mark Prior.

Hudson exactly hasn't been the Huddy he was in Oakland for the Braves. I'd say Atl. didn't get exactly what they wanted either.
