They need to get something in return form him if they move him. Trading him for salary cap relief would kill fan support (what there is of it). I also kind of hate to move him because he has been here from day one. He is the "original bobcat".

I think you have to find some kind of value, but as far as the second thing, sentimentality in sports gets you 7th and 8th seeds or DNQs....

If someone offered a 1st and something else in a young piece with upside if that 1st would be a late round pick, I think the Bobcats need to pull the trigger. No one on that team should be out of trade consideration, because no one is all that good.

I think everyone would agree with that (a first + a young player for Crash.)

The problem was, the original report had the Bobcats giving the Cavs Crash AND a 1st round pick for salary relief.

That's not the type of deal a team makes if they are trying to get better.

I honestly didn't read the original report, but I agree they shouldn't let him go for pennies on the dollar. Fifty cents, I think they should consider. A late 1st round pick and young guy that could be a good role player to me is about that if you trade a guy that was an allstar last year...albeit one of the least talented on either roster.

I am fine with it if they are going to get something decent in return. To move him just to dump his salary would be bad. You do not get better by dumping your best players and getting nothing in return.

I'd trade Wallace for the Cavs trade exception AND a swap of each team's first rounder this year.

I wonder if we can do that. We owe our pick to Chicago for Tyrus Thomas, but it's lottery protected for a few years. What would happen if we pulled that trigger now and ended up making the playoffs anyway? There has to be some rule in place to keep that from happening.

If they could trade Wallace and Diaw for one guy who can score inside it might be worth it. DJ and Jackson are carrying this team.

I'd probably do Diaw/Wallace for Jamison and a pick. Not sure if that helps the Cavs though.

edit: Diaw has been playing well though, wish he was more of a post up threat though cause you're right we can't score inside. Kwame has been a nice find recently inside.

the cavs aren't going to get rid of jamison unless it's for something really nice. jamison's contract expires after next season and it's huge. next year, it will be very valuable to teams trying to get under the cap.

the cavs have generally been willing to take on salary if they can get something in the process (like a young talent or pick). not sure they'll do that these days as the team crumbles and its value plummets.

personally, while i think jamison would be a nice get, he's probably not the best guy for this team. not with jackson and augustin. jamison isn't a real post up player and his output is based largely on how much he's got the ball. he doesn't demand touches, but if he doesn't get them he's not going to offer much beyond the occasional tip in. plus, he's a defensive liability.

wallace provides a ton of d and hustle, even if he's not been bringing it on the offensive side. if you need wallace to score, you've already lost, imo. diaw could certainly be more aggressive, but i think he fits the system pretty well.

diaw has great court awareness and a big with hands and actual offensive ability would look great next to him. kwame's been a surprise, but let's face it, the bar was pretty low. too bad chandler was cut loose.
