I just watched the top 40 country singers (male) of all time, and it made me think of this. I never got into Country big time as I've always been more into classic rock n roll but I remember about 89-95 I listened to a lot of it, and now I'm starting to get back into it some. Listening to the old stuff, and the new stuff. Anybody else listen to country? I just wondered if there was anything real good out there now that I might wanna listen to.

I like the really old stuff too. George Jones, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Hank Sr, Willie, Waylon, a few others. But I still like Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam, Tracy Lawrence, guys that have been around awhile but only popular the last 10-12 years. Seeing the special tonight made me wanna go back and hear some of it again.

Country music definitely doesn't appeal to me like good old rock n roll but I'm kinda like Surfer. I do like to visit it every now and then.

I really like all music, some just a lot more than others.

I love the old stuff. Can't stand the new stuff they play on the radio - completely homogenized with no edge thanks to the Nashville songwriting factories. I'm kind of warming up to the Dixie Chicks newest CD, though, reluctantly. And Robert Earl Keen is the man.

And the alt.country movement that was going on about six or seven years ago was some good stuff. Whiskeytown, Son Volt, the Old 97's. Then the big record companies got into it, and it all went to hell.

I like the old (80s) stuff. Wille and Merle, Johnny Cash and David Allan Coe. Sometimes Kenny Rogers or Ronnie Milsap. Whoever sang "Lookin for Love in All the Wrong Places." Stuff like that. I'm not sure what to make of this "new" stuff. I just know it ain't me.

I prefer old country. This encompasses songs/artists from the mid-50's to around the late 80's to early 90's. After that it's hit or miss. Most current country is rock and roll.

Generally, no. Not much of a fan of New Country, much of which sounds like Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake with fiddles.

I do like bluegrass, newgrass, folk, americana, alt-country now. I used to be snobby about it, I wouldn't listen to a lot of that stuff because of the shit kicking image a lot of people have of the genre. But then I realized I liked a good hoedown.
