Could 'Watchmen' Get Delayed to 2010?

I imagine it'll still be a very good movie, I just have extreme doubts about it accurately representing the source material.

 

I know what you mean. It is very difficult for any movie to do the original work justice. However, the original artist Dave Gibbons has had high praise for it so far. Alan Moore probably wouldn't wipe his arse with it though.

 

i'm cautiously optimistic. honestly, i don't see how they can fit it all into a single movie. it would have been awesome to do as an hbo-style miniseries (a la band of brothers). you get much more breathing room for the subplots and of course you're be able to honor the serial nature of the original 12 parts.

300 was good, but it felt like a play -- intimate to the point of clostrophobia. i'm glad he's decided to actually shoot stuff in camera instead of trying to greenscreen the whole thing.

it's too bad it got delayed for so long, i think this movie in 2002-2005 would have been much more timely than in 2009. but i guess people would have probably panned it as trying to be overtly political if it had come out then, so maybe it's good to avoid that whole mess.

Word is Fox might trade release rights on the old Adam West Batman DVDs (and possibly other things) in exchange for Watchmen's release.
