Same thing that happened in '09 when Peppers' franchise salary was killing the Panthers' cap and Hurney stretched Delhomme's deal to open up some cap space.

Which cost the squad DT and OL depth.

    Ah, the choices we make...

In fairness to Hurney, this class of free agent CBs didn't have much physicality anyway.

Hayden is physical. Clements was physical. Both were cuts, but I don't know if the team was anticipating going and getting a starter there.

Clements is the one I did think of, but he's a bit long in the tooth. Would have been an upgrade, definitely, but I'm fine with them going in a younger direction.

Still worried. Maybe more so now that I've seen the D-Line get pushed around in Miami.

Oh, and Gamble still hasn't played.

Miami opened up holes in our DL (other than the goal-line stand) consistently. Big ones.

Our Oline couldn't open up a crack, much less anything resembling a hole.

Sparano was fuming after they got beat down by the Falcons (first-team OL). He's an OL guy, worked under Parcells, and if you recall (not that it's really relevant to Rivera's defense)he was the OL coach with Dallas in 2005 that pretty much destroyed Carolina's front four late in the year, a week after Dallas was mauled by Washington for minimal rushing yardage and about 45 sacks.

    Still....still.....DT is a concern.

As much as I mock the signing, having Edwards would have helped because he is a veteran and can hold the point. That said, I never felt like we were strong enough at RDT. Irvin doesn't impress me, and McClain consistently vacated his gap at USF to try and get around blockers. Meanwhile RDE has been an absolute zero so far, which is not a surprise.

Well, sign up for Twitter, and follow Mr. Irvin. He impresses him.
