Is anyone sending component video through cat 5e/6 wire? I am trying to send a component feed for hd/htpc to a location in the kitchen where I only ran 1 RG6 and came across this..

    http://www.unicomlink.com/products/ibm_coax_av/A_V_devices.asp#1

It mentions that it can do 720p and 1080i just fine. I've looked for something like this in the past and found those video baluns, but they seemed to have trouble getting past 480p or dvd quality. So I'm hoping they finally broke through that limitation for signals with higher bandwith.

should be ok with cat6 and if you maintain the twist on the ends when you punch it down. How far is the run gonna be?

I ran cat5e so cat6 is out. I still think it will be ok as the run is < 70 ft.

Im just dead curious....why do you want HD in the kitchen? Do you really spend that much time in there?

HD isn't really the need as much as htpc. I'd like to feed that room so i can control whole house audio through mce from in there. But since both are distributed from a matrix switch why not.

I had a hunch it was just for a control center....that's why I asked.

This is a cool idea. Take some pics. Id love to see how it comes out.

my uncle built a house last year, and I wired a structured system with built-in surround sound in the kitchen, living room, and home theater room. Cheap fucker never let me finish it, his wife blew the home theater money on antiques. So he's got a nice distro panel and some nice built-in speakers but they're not hooked up to anything.
