Combine numbers: runningbacks

The early numbers for running backs don't look so good. William Green ran a 4.57 and a 4.58. DeShawn Foster ran an abysmal 4.67. Disappointing for Green, he'll have to do much better in workouts to hold off Duckett. And this could really send Foster into a slide.

Regardless of his detractors, I was able to think about getting on board with Foster at 34. Not the way I'd go, but comfortable with the move. Dunno about that now. .

I still feel there should be good value into the third and maybe even the fourth round with guys like Chester Taylor, Maurice Morris, Leonard Henry, Damian Anderson, and Travis Henry.
I wouldn't mind taking a project RB like Verron Haynes in the fourth. A converted FB like him, lost in statistics, often becomes a hidden gem.

i still dont think running back neds to be addressed in this draft -- well, not the no. 1/franchise back anyway. as much as i like offense, i could live without it -- and just hope huntley can stay healthy all season.

of course, speed isn't everything. i'd more like a guy to have a burst and to break the first tackle.

Did anyone see Haynes in the Hula Bowl? That burst to break the first tackle that LarryD speaks of is exactly what he displayed. Grabbing him in the fourth would be a great pick to work with for the near future.

Is there a web site that posts all the numbers from the combine, like 40 yard times and how many reps they did?

I still like Foster... this could be a timely slide... he seems to be one of those guys with something to prove... and if we could get him with our 2nd rnd pick it could be a steal in the draft... my persaonl thoughts are we will be drafting in this order...

    1. Defense
    2. Offense
    3. Defense
    4. Defense
    5. Offense (line man would be my guess)

i'm thinking this is definately a good time to trade down, if anyone wants to offer something up.

a lock-down corner is a primary need right now.

Welcome to the Darkside Larry. I have been saying that all along and I'll I get is Peppers this and Peppers that. People don't want to see the extended value of a trade down because they can't see past the home town boy.
Trading down is the right move for the good of the organization...and Fox. They expectations aren't going to be huge this year and trading down sets him up with more picks this year AND likely an extra second next year. The fewer FA we have to sign the better.

Of course, we could trade down, and neither of the top 2 corners may be there. Not to say I would turn down a bunch of picks. But it would have to be something more than a 2003 #1. Detroit, IMO, won't stay at #3. So that's a problem.

And if we do trade down, don't be so sure it would be for a CB. I'd rather get a DT.

Ross seems to be rising. Shepard and Rumph. I'd like to look corner second round. Could be some good ones there.

And Brain, Foster is already considered a second round pick. If he slides any more, he's a third rounder.
