They said the same thing about Michael Vick. HAving to simplify the play book for him. He seems to have turned out ok as well ;)

yeah, but Vick's a second year player.

Back foot throw again for Collins - he made plenty of those here.

Another one of situations where the first team that had the player never gets the best out of him maybe? I always think of Webber here in DC when I watch Collins throwing TD's for NY. If Webber had stayed in DC, I think he would've ended up busted for pot. Oh wait, he was busted before they traded him. But I'm thinking something really serious may have happened. Sort of like how Kerry may have killed himself and someone else while out getting liquored up in Charlotte somewhere. It just sucks big ones for the first team that had to deal with the problems.

Holding onto the ball when getting sacked (around 20-25 of those fumbles last year maybe?) has made a bigger difference than the INT's for Collins I think. Those fumbles are usually real killers. Gotta at least be a part of it.

well, a lot of teams have high rated guys that they have problems with. Sometimes it's more valuable to trade, sometimes it's too expensive to keep, sometimes it's free agency. Collins made a lot of enemies here. I don't harbor any ill will toward Kerry, but I never thought of him as anything more than an occasionally above average QB who loses focus.

And yeah, the fumbles have hurt him real bad. Turnovers aren't just picks...he gets flustered sometimes when he knows he's getting sacked but doesn't want to get hit.

    49ers wasting no time driving.

Correct me if I am wrong but it seems like to me that a man that would put 38 points on the scoreboard in 3 quarters would be considered at least sort of good. I don't think Collins can do much about the 30 that San Fran has or got.
He looks good to me and it would be nice if Carolina could be in the play-offs and have 38 right now.:)

Not unless he bring Toomer, Tiki, Shockey, and Petigout with him.

eh, kinda hard to see Kris Mangum doing what Shockey is doing, and our offensive line blocking well enough for Collins to score 38 for Carolina, not to mention the way more conservative offense, and lack of a Tiki Barber-type back. Offensive play-calling and lack of weapons is our major problem imo, and having Collins at the level he's playing now wouldn't do much for us, even though he's definitely better than anything we have now...there's not much use in crying about it, he blew it here and moved on. I think Carolina fans should move on too.

he's had a good statistical day. Any time anyone throws 4 TDs in a game that person is doing good. Won't mean shit if they don't win.

As for the rest, had he not drunk and swore himself out of town, he'd be a concern for the Panthers right now. Can't 'what if' if the player didn't cooperate.

49ers on the FG - five point game. Was the first play in the last 12 that wasn't a pass. Giants' pass D just 17th in the regular season.

garcia shoulda tucked it and headed for the pylon.

now, this is where collins shows his worth: 38-33, 7 minutes to go. .
