UNC does it again, sqeaking by CSF 6-5 in another exciting game. CSF had made a decent run from the losers bracket after losing to UNC last Friday but their magic ran out in the Omaha heat, facing a stellar UNC pitching staff. Daniel Bard went 6+ and got some help from Hovis, Carignan and even Andrew Miller to get the final out.....ketchup and all. Jay Cox belted 2 HR's on the day, driving in 4 runs to power the Heels. Carolina got a huge defensive break as Carignan fielded a 1 out squeeze bunt and threw a strike to the plate to nail a Titan runner in the 8th that would have tied the game at 6. Cox was the star again in the 9th, this time making a running catch up against the left field wall to save a sure Titan double from putting more pressure on the Heels. Great game, even greater win!

Carolina WILL play for the National Championship this weekend!!!!!!!!!

    Lets Go Heels!

    Village,

I think you meant Andrew Miller. Now if Wes Miller would have come running out of that bullpen, that would have been cool. Go Heels.

Heck of a ride and a couple of days more to get the starters some rest. I am guessing Rice meets the Heels the way OSU keeps coming back from the ditch

Either way I want OSU to win tonight. Would love to see Rice or OSU wear out their pitching while the Heels show up Saturday with the whole rotation rested and ready.

incredible run the Heels have going.

    OSU pitching

OSU's pitching, although stretched more than Carolina's, looks very impressive with minimal rest. 2 straight shutouts, first time that's happened in the CWS since 1992.
Nickerson pitched 7 innings on Mon. night, allowing two runs on four hits; & pitched 7 innings again tonight, allowing only 2 hits & no runs. The OSU staff has allowed only 4 runs in the last 36 innings. Their closer has 19 saves.

    Go Beavers!

side note: tonight's Rice /OSU game was not a typical aluminum bat game: the 2 teams totaled 5 hits & 2 runs.
