He'll be addressing the rumors today @ 2 pm.

He JUST donated $250,000 to USC over the next 5 years. Last week he got Sidney Rice to agree to return for another year. On Thursday USC presented $194 million in athletic facility upgrades to the public. Some of these things were requested straight from Spurrier.

Spurrier denies he's jumping to the 'Canes

    By TONY BARNHART
    The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

    Published on: 11/19/06

South Carolina's Steve Spurrier moved quickly Sunday to shoot down reports linking him to the University of Miami head coaching job.

"Somebody started a bad rumor there," Spurrier told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday. "I've certainly not talked to anybody and don't plan to talk to anybody. The only job I'm interested in is the one I've got. Our goal is to win the SEC championship here. Our immediate goal is to beat Clemson on Saturday."

Citing an anonymous source, CSTV reported late Saturday that Spurrier will leave for Miami. ESPN.com reported that Spurrier was being considered as the Hurricanes' next coach if Larry Coker gets fired at the end of this season.

The Hurricanes are 5-6 heading into Thursday's regular-season finale against Boston College.

Spurrier made light of the reports, wondering who the Miami "source" might be.

"Is it the president, the athletic director or somebody sleeping under a bridge?", Spurrier said.

Spurrier, 61, said he has made it his goal to win the first SEC football championship ever at South Carolina.

"Miami is one of the top football programs in the country and if they have to make a change ''m sure they will find a good coach," Spurrier told the AJC. "But winning the SEC is going to be our goal here from now on. We've proven that we can scare some of these teams; now we're going to see if we can beat them.

"I've got the job I want right here."

Spurrier Still Likely Heading to Miami

Sources say South Carolina coach heading to Hurricanes

Despite Steve Spurrier's denials today in his weekly teleconference, sources tell CSTV that he is still heading to the University of Miami to replace Larry Coker as head football coach. CSTV first reported the story last night on Gametracker Live and SEC Football Nation.

In his media teleconference this afternoon at 2:00 pm, Spurrier was repeatedly asked about the Miami job, and denied that he was a candidate. However, following multiple questions asking him if he is in interested in the Miami job, the coach never insisted he wasn't interested, but instead, tip-toed around the answer. I asked him to state that he is not interested in Miami and again, the coach failed to state that he is not interested. Spurrier also jokingly said that he hopes to be back at South Carolina next year, but that depends on the school's athletic director and president.

Despite Spurrier's denials, CSTV stands by its initial reporting and has, in fact, confirmed from yet an additional source very close to the situation that Spurrier to Miami is still likely to happen.

Spurrier is finishing up his 2nd season in Columbia, and owns a 13-10 record at USC.
