He's not, and I don't want him back. Nine years was enough. I think he's a better head coach than Rivera, though.

I said something like that the other day. It's tough to truly evaluate Rivera when he's been paired with a terrible GM.

Couple of "ifs". If he doesn't lay the law down to Chud to stop the cute shit, get Smitty involved early, get some drives going, I will turn on him. If they don't get the defense fixed this year, and he keeps McD, I will turn on him. Right now, I still have patience. Unlike a lot of people I did not expect playoffs this year but I didn't expect to be embarrassed on a regular basis either, and I think that will happen again this week.

I wasn't expecting a playoff appearance either, but I'm worried that I feel like he doesn't have control over the team.

I don't know about that but I don't think he's been exercising control over his coordinators. Sounded like he was gonna get into that some after last week though. DBs playing off would change, criticizing negative yardage plays. It's his gig, and his neck on the line. He'd better start taking control.

I'm reminded of the old John McKay clip from NFL Films-when asked about his team's execution, McKay responded "I'm all for it."

If this is indeed the case, it's time to gut the roster of malcontents and not fire the coach. You can't have the same guys quitting on two coaches in three years and expect anything different from them once another guy comes in.

I think a 6-10 holding pattern under Rivera is more likely than two or three win season. I don't see the bottom ever falling completely out unless Cam gets hurt or commits suicide.

Most modern-day players are malcontents and drama queens. That's probably why you see guys like Cowher and Gruden showing no interest in returning unless it's a great situation.
