Canalas being pass happy offensive coach tells me it was a Tepper pick, and that this guy being at the same organization as the new GM is just coincidental. In fact, there's a chance that Morgan and Canales never even spoke to eachother in Seattle, since there's no actual reason for a front office assistant and a coaching assistant to comingle. Also, this point shouldn't need to be made because owners have been making this mistake for decades, but being an offensive coordinator and supposed QB guru has nothing to fucking do with being a head coach. Maybe this guy will hit the ground running and be successful at his brand new job, but the odds don't favor it.

The six year contract means nothing. I think it's just Tepper being flashy while also trying to impose patience on himself, but if this coach doesn't win in two years, he'll be gone. It could be a fully guaranteed 20 year contract and David would still abandon the project in 24 months if he doesn't get instant gratification, because here's the bottom line if you're working for this owner - you have to win, and you have to win almost immediately, and then you have to keep winning. There's no runway for a rebuild or a learning curve or a one year regression. And these are the conditions for a neophyte HC inheriting a 2-15 roster with no 1st round pick and limited cap room.

    I hope he's renting.

Years in Seattle working with Russell Wilson, who has been avg at best since leaving, and prob gets cut. Coached up Geno Smith well enough to make the pro Bowl & Comeback player of the year, also wasn't near as good last season and Seattle may be going in a different direction at QB next year

Then.... in one season made Mayfield look like a top 10 QB, who will likely now get an extension.

On paper, QB's play better when he's on the staff. I think his connection with Dan Morgan was also key

if this doesn't work out, I hope they stop plucking from the Seahawks tree

Sounds like the new staff is going to be a hodgepodge of TB and Seattle staff. No surprise there.
Brandt Tilis maybe coming over from the Chiefs.

Doesn't matter, they will all be fired by week 7...when the giant toddler throws a hissy fit and decides he wants a new set of toys.
