I am guessing each team probably has 3 or 4 players from Greece that play this role.

    :thud:

"The Greeks -- with no current NBA players on their roster -- danced in a circle at halfcourt after their victory."

    Damn!!!

They were (and still are) also undefeated so it wasn't like they sucked.

I think that the Spurs are the only champs that did have foreign players playing a big role recently.

    Problems are defensive.

We brought two of the better defensive point guards in the NBA, and neither could really stop dribble penetration at all.

The second problem is we gamble a lot on defense, and that opens up a lot of open threes.

And no one it seems in the NBA can control screen rolls. It's why the Suns do so well. It's all they run. They play international style ball.

An NBA champion would do better, but when more and more NBA teams have more and more foriegn players, that's going to be impossible,

I don't think it's all Coach K's fault (even though him being coach means he obviously has to take some of the blame) the two coaches before him were both Tarheels and had similar finishes. With the NBA three being so far back, we don't have players that want to get so far back and shoot the three so our players are more of drivers and slashers than International players who shoot threes. Besides Detroit and Dallas many great teams don't play good team ball together. Phoenix is okay, but their team has foreign players in key spots. I mean the NBA is all about having teams with one superstar, a pretty good player (who has made an All Star team or two before) and then the other three guys out on the court might as well be checking their phone messages because they aren't getting the ball. Look at the Lakers play. It sucks so bad watching them play and Kobe shooting 85 shots a game. International teams play better as a team. I think it'd be interesting to see them play with the NBA dimensions.

Chris Paul should have cracked one of those greek guards in the nuts. that would have kept them out of the lane

Well, they bounced back by won the bronze by beating Argentina, which was considered a favorite of sorts since they won Olympic Gold.

In these tourneyments, its just takes one bad night against a good opponent.

As much credit as K was getting for the teams success he has to get some of the blame. I'd love to see the National Championship team play in the Olympics with a few extra players added in
