I really liked it, but don't know that I'd watch it again. It was a great "Experience" movie. It'll draw a lot of comparisons to Blair Witch just because of the way it was shot and how it's kind of a "gimmick" movie.

    7/10

I don't know why the critics hated it, I thought it was pretty good :) :) . . I liked the ending in this one vs. I AM LEGEND!!!!

Man, I'm not really a good judge for that, Mike. Since I don't have kids I just don't really have a good grasp on what a kid can handle.

This is certainly what I'd call a sci-fi movie as opposed to a horror movie. There's only one kind of suspenseful moment (in a subway tunnel) and only a couple "jump in your seat" moments. There's some blood, but I wouldn't call it gory by any means.

There's a reference to sex, but it's just a reference... talking about 2 people that have slept together, and a few "shit"s.

I hope I've helped some - sorry I couldnt help more.

EDIT: On second thought, I'm not really sure how much an 8 year old would really enjoy the movie. This this is shot entirely first person, like Blair Witch, so there's a lot of questions that go unanswered. It might be over an 8 year old's head just in that regard.

figured. Wife's ex-husband wants to take the 8 year old to see it, and I didn't think it was a good idea (after looking it up online and all). Just trying to get a sense for what others thought. Looks like I may have been right. The jackass will probably take him to see it anyway.

i saw it last night, too.

if blair witch hadn't already been done, it would be getting raves as groundbreaking. but the reviewers aren't panning it. rottentomatoes (an aggregate of all reviewers) has it at 77% positive reviews.

that's about what i thought of it. the first-person camera work makes you a little nauseous at times, but the sound was excellent.

funny, but the most improbable thing in the movie isn't a giant flesh-eating bug-spawning lizard crash-landing in the ocean then destroying new york city.

it's how ILLOGICALLY the characters all acted.

blair witch was at least logical.

this is definitely not for kids, though. the first-person part is what makes it scary. it's too real.

mark, did you see the monster crash-land into the water at the end -- when they were on the ferris wheel?
