cliff ellis rips vitale

    TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — After his team’s victory over Saint Joseph’s on Friday, Auburn coach Cliff Ellis lashed back at ESPN analyst Dick Vitale, who criticized the NCAA selection committee for placing the Tigers in the tournament.
    Ellis said Auburn deserved its spot based on its 20-11 regular-season record and second-place finish in the Southeastern Conference West division.
    ‘‘He needs to study the facts,’’ Ellis said. ‘‘You can tell him I said that.’’
    Still, Ellis said he considers Vitale a friend.
    ‘‘I met him a long time ago down in Sarasota. His hair was blowing in the breeze. ... But he was too proud to go chase it,’’ Ellis quipped.

    wonder what Dicky V is gonna say now

    It happens every year, a team with a suspect record gets in, gets ripped for being there and then has a good tournament. Dicky V should know better. He probably fired them up a little.
