He was the first choice of Rivera, who had to sell him to Panthers officials who had built their own list of candidates before hiring Rivera. Chudzinski, 42, interviewed Friday.

well yeah, but there's a good chance they'd renew him as TE coach. If its me I'm thinking. Hey I can go here, be promoted, be in charge of the entire offense, make more money, ORRRRR I can stay here and resign to be TE coach.

Rivera is obviously a huge fan... he wants an attack style offense and a Pro Bowl TE to go with it. Plus he's going to be running the defense so he needs someone he knows and can trust to do things like he wants on offense. I'm a little excited.

So, does this mean we should be looking at the 2011 TE FA list instead of the QB FA list?

Does having a former TE and TE coach as our OC give us any leverage to pry one of the available FA's away from his current team?

I'm pretty excited about Chud too, it's nice to have hope that the offense with be fun to watch after the last several years.

It is , but that isn't why he was available. If he'd had a contract he'd be a Charger. They can block non-head coaching moves.

But why didn't he have a contract is the question. Chargers not offer one? Or did he figure the time was right ot make a change and let his expire?

That's my point. he'd still be there if an OC job wasn't on the table.
