I have been hearing LINK 107 play the ever popular Christian song "I Can Only Imagine" by MERCY ME. It's a GREAT SONG!!! I am a religious person, so I heard the song over a year ago when it came out on the Christian stations. But, my question is ... does anyone know why the Top 40 station is giving it some SERIOUS airtime being as it is not a recent song, much less in the same genre of music?

For those of who may not have heard it, this isn't like a CREED or SIX PENSE crossover song where there could be an implied non-gender (creator) specific subject.

    LYRICS:
    I can only imagine
    What it will be like
    When I walk
    By Your side
    I can only imagine
    What my eyes will see
    When Your face
    Is before me
    I can only imagine

    Chorus:
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
    I can only imagine

    I can only imagine
    When that day comes
    And I find myself
    Standing in the Sun
    I can only imagine
    When all I will do
    Is forever
    Forever worship You
    I can only imagine

    Repeat chorusX2

    I can only imagine
    What it will be like
    When I walk
    By Your side
    I can only imagine...

    GREAT SONG!

word of God speak is a great group. they have a soothing sound that appeals to all kinds of listeners. to me the song 'shine' be the news boys has the same way about it. everyone seems to like it and by the time they realize it is christian music they have already made their mind up that they like it.

there are LOTS of groups i like. point of grace and rebecca st. james are among my very favorite though.

I've been wondering this myself. I have no problem with Christian music being placed into a format if it fits into the format. This is a Country song and should be played on Country stations.

I cried every time I heard this song for about 6 months after it came out. What an amazing thought- finally seeing God. I get chills just thinking about it.

It doesn't sound anything remotely like country IMO. But it is a great song. I was shocked when I heard it on 95.1. I checked out Mercy Me's website and it appears the song is getting heavy national play for some reason. Surprising considering it appears to be an old song and it's a Christian song.

Then of course after I heard it 95.1 played Sean Paul's "Get Busy". What a way to follow a Christian song.

ooh, i would like to see them! I wonder how much their tickets run. I like a lot of their music. God Speak is another great one of their songs, i'll bet it will be on top 40 stations too.

It's not a country song at all ... it's strickly in the Christian genre. Regaurdless ... other stations are picking it up. I am sure a country station will pick it up soon.
