With implications coming regarding his court problems it may be a good thing but I'd prefer if they 'd have waited until the end of the year.

Panthers release lineman after missed court date|
Eds: AMs; UPDATES with Panthers releasing Terry.|
    |By TIM WHITMIRE|
    |Associated Press Writer|
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers released offensive lineman Chris Terry on Wednesday, hours after he surrendered to authorities for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting his wife.
General manager Marty Hurney said he and coach John Fox met with Terry and told the player ‘‘that we thought it was best that we release him,’’ Hurney said. ‘‘Our decision was based on a series of occurrences involving the player and the club.’’
An arrest warrant was issued for Terry on Tuesday after he failed to show up to face the assault charge.
Terry turned himself in to deputies in a courtroom at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday. He was released from jail less than three hours later after posting a $15,000 secured bond.
He then met with the Panthers, who told him he would be released.
Terry’s lawyer, Chris Fialko, declined to comment on where his client had been Tuesday and overnight; Fialko also had no comment in response to Terry’s release from the team.
Terry was charged in July after his wife, NyQuell Jackson-Terry, told police that the 6-foot-5, 295-pound player had pushed her into a wall during an argument at their home in south Charlotte.
Terry denied hitting his wife, who was in the courtroom Tuesday.
He had been free on a $2,500 bond to guarantee he’d come to court to face the charge.
A protective order keeps Terry away from their home, as well as school and day-care centers attended by their children. It also prohibits Terry from possessing or buying a handgun.
Hurney said Tuesday that Terry had not been in contact with the Panthers, who tried several times to reach him after he failed to show up in court.
A second-round pick out of Georgia in 1999, Terry started all but one game on the offensive line during his three seasons with the Panthers.

Not a great year for Chris. It comes in threes so don't be surprised if he does something else stupid and tragic in the next month or so . . . sad.

    Ahhhhhhh..

His wife is named after an over the counter cough medicine?

Maybe Buckner and Peppers where doing Ny-quell and thus the Ephedrine. and maybe thats what pushed Terry over the edge.

    the plot thickens...

I've got no problems with this, though that's tied to the fact that I've never been a fan of his play on the field. You can't have 10 plus sacks allowed each year from your tackle.

The club would probably be more patient with someone playing at a high level.
