Chris Mortensen was just on FNZ talking about the quarterback situation, and his take is that Fox has given up on Weinke. He also talked about Peete coming out if he stinks it up one good time and that at that point it would be up to giving Weinke another chance or throwing Fasani in.

Mort thinks that Fasani will see the field at some point this season. He noted watching one of the games with a pro scout that said that if you didn't see the names, you'd think Fasani was a first round pick athletically.

He went on to say that Weinke played very well in the first half of the season last year but thinks that he's not the guy or that there's something Fox isn't saying that soured him on Weinke.

He talked about how there'd be more lowlights than highlights but it was very good that Morgan and Peppers were playing well. He raved about Dan Henning and noted that Henning has started a rookie receiver before and it wasn't a problem.

Said Carolina should win this weekend but the Lions aren't as bad as they played last week.

This was my point about passing on Harrington, yet knowing Weinke may not be the answer. They said fasani was highly rated on their QB board (#3), and then he came out and looked pretty intriguing in preseason.

Well yeah - Peete's not the long term answer. Obviously Weinke is in the shithouse. I think all the qb of the future stuff was kinda baloney to keep folks from freaking out. Maybe we can get a 4th for Weinke, but likely he'd be cut and we'll sign another vet or keep Peete next year.

It'll be interesting. Peete's our 4th starter in like 19 months. All he had to do was win one home game, and everyone's like "Weinke? Chris Who?"

And I just bought my 2 year old son a #16 Weinke jersey. Once again, if I buy the jersey it is like the kiss of death. I have a Collins, Green, Carruth, Beurlien, Weinke, and a Morgan. Please #55, stay around for a little while.

    CG,

Get rid of that Morgan jersey ASAP.

Athletically, Fasani has those kind of measurables. He’s just been hurt so much.

If the Collins has a nameplate on it, cut it off and you have a ready made Fasani. There are plenty of Collins jerseys to be had on the internet. as low as $20-25.

    That's my take.

and I really don't have a problem with it. I'd just like to know what it is. If he needs to keep it a secret for trade value, so be it.

I don't think Weinke has trade value, what with his incentive laden contract.

They traded a Bledsoe & $100m, they can trade a Weinke. Even if it's an 8th round pick, it's something...........and I would think incentives is what a team would want.
