I think you can throw in a little bit of overconfidence too.

A couple things the Bears might try to do against our D to give them some spark...
    1. Using Adrian Peterson a little more to take advantage of Carolina's tnedency to over persue, Peterson is good cut back runner and he gashed the Panthers in the first meeting. He was something like 9-47 and all his positive yards came off of cut backs.
    2. Use the TE in the passing game, as the Panthers have obviously had probelms covering TE's.
    3. Bumb rush Wharton. In the first meeting, the Bears brought the DE, and two LB's or a CB at Wharton on at least two occasions, both resulted in sacks.

Some things the Panthers can do to give them some spark...
    1. Play clock managment, moving the ball in bits and pieces. Keeping thier D on the field is imparitive.
    2. Spread the Bears out and identify hot routes to back them off from stacking the box.
    3. Keep the pressure on Grossman to win the game.

I am expecting that if the Panthers are to win this game at Chicago in January, Jason Baker will have to play a MAJOR role in the field position game.

The last two weeks we faces Tiki and Dunn who are both excellent cut back runners. Their combined total yard through 8 quarters of football is 67 yards.

    Crumber and Shockey...ring a bell?

I'm guessing a lot less empty backfield sets this weekend, more screens, and dump off passes. If we can't run early, you'll see us play them a little like we played Buffalo.

Yeah, Gen Scope, the team shouldn't even worry about those things.

I think that a real important thing is we spotted them 10 points. Yes Jake made bad throws but if you take away the short field we played them real even. We will find out if Foster is shit or shinola this weekend. But as has been said on here before Fox and company scheme their best during playoff games.

The only one that is a concern for us is #3. The two teams that gashed us in the run this season were Dallas and the Bucs, neither of which employed strong cutback runner. We simply (and horribly) had people out of position and/or manhandled at the line.

Carolina gets bad press as being weak against the TE postion but honestly, how many TE's have scored against us this year? What percentage of first downs by passing were to TEs? I don't have the number but as I'm remembering it, not THAT many. If someone knows where those stats exist I'm willing to be proven wrong but I don't think I will be.

Chicago's top TE (Desmond Clark) has one more reception than Kris Mangum with Kris having played 2 fewer games and BOTH have only 2 TDs on the season. Desmond has had 16 catches for first down compaired to Kris's 15; and Kris just isn't used that much.

Thomas Jones has had a good season but he is a power runner, not a cutback man. Our D is going to have to shed blocks to get to this guy with 2-3 defenders and get his legs out from under him. He's not a Dunn, Portis, or Barber. He's closer to Stephen Davis if anything. Anyone going to call SD a cutback guy?

some positives from the last game

Smith had 169 yrds(48 lg) so they were moving the ball some

Jake hit 5 diff receivers (not including the bears)

it was only the 3rd loss of the season in week 11.

    Sometimes here, sometimes there
We have to watch the smoke passes against the bears, I feel sometimes we throw that pass too much and like yesterday, by the 4th one to smith, it's nearly picked. Vasher will pick that.

Jake should never throw it to whoever vasher is covering while under intense durress, especialy if it's proehl. Those two int in the last game were the diff in the game.

Jake and Foster especially need to protect the ball and not fumble. If that team gets down at all, their mean ass d will be looking for a strip big time. Especially if they watch the way d-shine runs.

The screens yesterday were great. Somebody make sure Henning doesn't lose that playbook page next Sunday.

For once or thrice the draws on 3rd and longs were successful. wow even. But, I don't thing the 3rd and long draws will work as well on the chic Lbs.

Why are miller lite drinkers so dumb they can't stock up before the game instead of all of em making beer runs during the games?
