Pasq on Weinke and whether Carolina would be interested in Charlie Batch next season:

Carolina: The reports on Chris Weinke's shoulder are encouraging, and the second-year veteran should be better under new coordinator Dan Henning, who has made a career of protecting his quarterbacks with a strong running attack. But there are no guarantees that Weinke, who is more than two years older than Batch but significantly less experienced, will ever become something special.

I'd take Simms or Manning! Also, keep an eye on Iowa State's Senaca Wallace, he's got a pretty deep repertoire. Leftwich was impressive last year as well.
Batch gets a big fat NO!

I think Eli will wait till he’s a Senior to declare.

Still, QBs look to be a strong point. Leftwitch, Dorsey, Ragone, Sims, Palmer, Thomas.

I keep forgetting Eli is only going to be a Jr. & thought Ragone was a Sr. last year?
Do like Ragone, Leftwich and Simms though...and Wallace as a darkhorse.

no thanks on Simms... Maybe Eli will have a great year, which he should (except for when he plays Alabama) , and declare for the draft. We should be in position for a pretty high pick next year.

I'm not convinced we need to draft a qb - unless Weinke sucks ass.

Even then, It might be easier to go FA than to try to draft a guy. Manning would be interesting.

I dunno. Seems like we just had a rookie QB. Not real excited about doing that again. Plus, Fasani might develop.

    I can't say QB is a 1st round priority.

Well, if we are talking Eli or Leftwitch, we are talking top 3 again.

Leftwitch would be raw, but I think he’s better than Vick or Carr. Eli would be better, as he’s further along technically, but I think he’ll stay in like his brother did, regardless of the type of season he has.

But no, beyond those, I’m not into starting again with a project. Too many holes.

That's why I'll keep pimping Wallace. Unless he has a freakish year and gets involved in the Hiesman race, which some around here think he will, he should be a mid-round pick.
We'll need to address DT or CB early next year, maybe even O-line?

There should be more than a few top QBs available in next years draft. Manning, Bryon Leftwich, Chris Simms, Dave Ragone and maybe even Drew Henson (who is currently playing baseball) could all be in the draft. There will also be a ton of stud WRs and a couple of very good DTs and CBs available. The Panthers should be able to get a position of high need filled at the top of next yrs draft.

    WRs:
    Andre Johnson Miami
    Roy Williams Tx
    Charlie Rogers M St
    Teko Johnson Stan
    Kelley Washington Tn
    Bradon Lloyd Ill

    DT:
    Vince Wilfork Miami
    William Joseph Miami
    Jimmy Kennedy P ST

    CB:
    Andre Wolfolk Ok
    Dennis Weathersby Or St

To me Batch isn't the answer ATP. Weinke, Peete and Fasini work for me.
