    I believe ol' Charlie was a pretty damn good baseball player in his younger days.

    yep, he was. I had done forgot about that. He was on TV one time taking batting practice with the Yankees, I believe.

    ty putt -- i couldn't for the life of me remember the name of that song.

    charley and nat king cole were pop's favorites -- oh, and herb alpert (sp?). though "hound dog" and "long gone" and "hey, good lookin" were his favorites to sing (ifin you'd call it dat).

    my folks record collection consisted of mostly Gospel and then we had Jim Reeves and Andy Griffith and I was happy to see Charley.:)

    my grandfather was a fan of Charley Pride. i remember going to the Harrington State Fair (Delaware) when i was a very tiny lass and watch him sing. Ahhh, the memories.

    My parents had some old gospel, too. It's amazing how much material is out there.

    I got to sit down for about an hour with Charley Pride a couple months after I got out of college. county fair duty. Mel Tillis the following year.

    He said "da da da dah dah da duh" but he sang durn well and his daughter Pam was an angel.:)
