    Three questions:

    1. What's the reason catholics confess to a priest (man) versus confessing to God?...and where is this discussed in the Bible?

    2. Why do catholics pray to the Virgin Mary?

I am not trying to be a smartaleck...I just don't understand the reasoning.

you really don't confess to a priest, the priest is more of a conduit to god. confession isn't really as you see it in the movies anymore but more of a consuling session now. secondly there is the concept of atonment for ones sins which seems to work better when it is handed out by someone other than ones self. Getting your real or imagined transgressions out in the open and having someone tell you to getover it already is sort of theraputic.

    2. because mothers always let you off easier.

I don't understand the whole Virgin Mary thing and Catholics praying to her etc.
However, I'm not sure as Christians we don't ignore her a bit too much. She must've been an Awesome person, that God choose her at such a young age.

Correct. She was still a faithful servant of God, and a special figure in Biblical history, but personally I refuse to place her at a higher level than any other Biblical leader. She was just another person God used to do extraordinary things, IMO.

There is a passage somewhere that says something like "confessing your sins one to another". I imagine that passage has a lot to do with confession.

We aren't meant to praise Mary for what she did, God chose her to give birth to Jesus so that He could do what He needed to do so we could praise Him.

Another thing about Catholicism is why all the statues and icons in the churches when one of the 10 commandments is not to have graven images made and bow down to them? Why the image of Christ on the cross?
