CBSSportline is reporting that Carr's contract with the Texans will be finalized by tomorrow. It's a seven year deal worth 45-60 million (if incentives are met).

He will be paid 16 million over the first three years of the deal. If the Panthers want any of the trade down action they need to get on the phone with the agents for Peppers, Jammer, and Harrington and begin working on contracts in order to get some other team to bite.

    I read that.

I was thinking the opposite, they need to play the field of picks, and wait until draft day for the trade offers.

    Your thought makes sense, too.

Meat, you have to make them think their guy will not be there to drum up any interest from them to make a move. Atlanta wanted Vick and damn near gave away the farm when San Diego started expressing interest in Vick.

Seems like Hurney might be off on his estimation of the signing bonus needed for the #2 pick. Carr's is going to be 11 million. I hope whoever we draft wasn't counting on the 13 million Hurney was tossing out there.

I don't get it though. Carr has the same agaent as Vick, and Vick got a deal worth $62m for 6 years. So Carr gets $45m, maybe as much as $60m, in 7 years? Now Vick had like a $3m signing bonus, but Carr is getting $11m.

I'd imagine b/c Vick was more likely to be a bust, so they kept the signing bonus low.
