I'm not too sure about that it'll be worth nothing. Remember, it's the first pick of that round, the Texans don't get one. But really, there have been some walk on FA's that have made an impact. Basically we get the pick of the litter of that group. I'm happy about the pick.

What about the loss of Hayes?

Don't we get something for losing him to New England? Wait we did get a 8th rd selection:tdo3:

The way the article read to me Paul was that the compensation was for what the teams lost in FA last year.
Marcellus Wiley, Simeon Rice and Mark Smith went to their new teams last year in FA. I guess we will be compensated next year for what we lose this year.

how does that make sense? we lose starters this year but get compensated next year.

I think they compensate you like a conditional draft pick works in a trade. How well they do will determine. As bad as I hate to see players leave and then do great, I guess if he has a break out year, 100/1,000, then we might pick up a 4 or 5 next year.

Yes, but because of our record. Any compensatory picks given were from the PREVIOUS FA session, not the current one.

Simple. That way a team doesn't try to let all their free agents walk in February to get a pick in April and then spend like a ************ in June. BY offsetting it a year you not only get to see what transactions were made but you also get to gauge how good they were.

I'm just glad we got a little extra. God knows we need it. You know a good street free agent doesn't want to come play for the worst team in NFL (according to last season's record). Gives us a chance to pick someone up that we had our eye on maybe. If they've been doing their scouting.
