Carmelo Anthony

I just read where Charlotte might be a sleeper contender to trade for him. He has a connection to Jordan and Charlotte has Dampier's contract to trade.

He is a superstar but I am not sure that it would make the team a lot better to make this move. He plays small forward and Wallace is our best player. We would add scoring but give up some defense and rebounding. I wonder if he could play the 4?

He probably does want a bigger market than Charlotte can provide to him. It kinda of sucks that small market teams get treated this way. It has been happening for years though. Zo and Shaq both left small market teams for bigger markets way back in the 90s. Kobe would not play in Charlotte either. They really ought to address this problem. A franchise player tag like they have in the NFL might be helpful.

 

Anthony reportedly gave the team a short list of his preferred destinations, which included the Nets, Clippers, Warriors, Rockets and Bobcats -- all teams that have some combination of young pieces and picks that the Nuggets might convince themselves is enough in return for Anthony.

If we can get Melo we do it under any circumstances. If Melo and Paul came here to play against Miami...I don't even want to think about it..

I gotta agree with DJ on this one. Although I see your point Thelt, and overall on paper it may not be much of an upgrade, you have to look at the positives from this. He is a Star where Wallace isn't really viewed that way outside of Charlotte. So this gives Charlotte a little more name recognition with a name. So this in turn could make Charlotte more attractive to other players.

Lastly while he does provide more offense where as Wallace adds more D and rebounding(last year mostly), people would rather see more points scored that an ugly defensive game.

Oh and he is 2 years younger.

 

At least he's letting Denver know now that he wants out. He's not gonna continue to let them build a team around him then bolt. They can get some serious trade value out of him.

 

Wallace is at his peak as well. Melo is still getting better, and he's inarguably Wallace's superior.

 

I agree that he would be a good add but it would be nice if we could add a guy without giving up Wallace. It would be like the Panthers trading DW for Adrian Peterson, sure he is an upgrade but not the overall team will not be all that much better.

What would really rock would be to get Billups in the deal. How about Dampier, DJ, Wallace and next years first round pick for Billups and Melo?
