Cardio not needed?

    I don't understand how that is possible. I would need more conclusive evidence to support it.

    I can't speak to things like blood pressure or diabetes, but I have always felt from my own body that intense strength workouts burn more fat than running. I don't run more than 3 miles at a time, so maybe it is different at greater distances, but I can tell you that a single power workout (squats, deadlift, hang clean) burns fat for two days or more as you build muscle.

    I lost 25 pounds by just cutting back (and some help from Weight Watchers). I wasn't really in shape though.

    It's no secret that cardio isn't optimum for burning fat. It's says so on the target heart rate graph on every cardio machine you will find these days. The target fat burning heart rate is lower so walking or bike riding or using the elipticals with more resistance and less speed is going to do more. Coupling that with weight training does the most to change your appearance in my experience.
