Holy Shit what a finish! What a gut shot for the LSU Tigers. Came back from 12 down to take lead with 46 secs (or so) only to lose on a blown defensive assignment (safety didn't cover after WR broke off line). Hawkeyes win by 5 over LSU. What a finish

yeah but if he didn't make that catch it would have been terrible clock management by the QB. He was just wasting time and had 2 TOs.

The last 2:00 of that game was loaded with piss poor clock managment. Had LSU not spiked that ball...game over.
I honestly expected LSU's D to smother Iowa. Spears was dinged up (bicep) and thier DB's seemed to be a step off all day. Webster did little to help his draft status today. The QB situation didn't help LSU at all either. Had Russell played over Flynn, LSU might have gotten going sooner.
To Iowa's credit, Tate's ability to take it on his shoulders was the factor for thier whole season. He really made a shitty O-line look better than they were, which still wasn't good. The blue-collar attitude of the Hawkeyes was the difference between 10-2 and 6-5. That and a tenacious D!

Iowa reminded me a lot of the Panthers this year. The Capital One bowl was a great game. Shit, I hope I don't get in trouble for whoring out the word "great." :laugh1:

I've thought about that a few times. Outside of the slow start, anyway. Both had injury problems at RB, both have suspect O-lines that seem to overachieve, both play ultra conservative with a lead, both rely heavily on D.

not only that, but the grittiness, blue-collar attitude, and perserverance through all the injuries. And the reason Iowa didn't have a slow start like the Panthers is the fact that it didn't take the offense 8 games to adapt.

Ferentz is the fucking man. The dude had NOTHING for an offense past Tate and almost won the Big 11. At one point I believe Iowa used a tuba player at RB they were so thin there.

Brian Ferentz will never play in the NFL. Maybe as a Center, but he's too small at 6'1 275. Good college player though. His return really got that O-line playing decent late in the year.
