Canadian Braves?

Seems the Atlanta Braves could be owned by group of Canadian businessmen. What do you think?

ATLANTA -- A man whose company has tried to move the Montreal Expos to Puerto Rico says his group now is interested in acquiring the Atlanta Braves.


Charles Vaughn, an Atlanta-based investor who helped form SportSouth USA, said Time Warner Inc., the Braves' owner, has not yet been contacted.

"Our firm would like to get involved with the Braves," Vaughn said Friday. "We are going on the offensive.

"We are just going to approach them and see," Vaughn said, adding that his group would keep the team in Atlanta.

Braves spokesman Greg Hughes said Friday he was not aware of any effort to purchase the team.

When Time Warner announced the proposed sale of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks and the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers last Sept. 16, Turner Broadcasting vice chairman Terry McGuirk said there no longer was "an ongoing marketing plan to sell" the Braves. McGuirk now is chairman and president of the Braves.

"As with any public company, anything is for sale," McGuirk said last year. "But I think there is a growing satisfaction with how the Braves are going."

The Milwaukee Brewers wore their throw-back (Braves) uniforms against the Atlanta Braves in Milwaukee tonite. Braves vs. Braves. That is all.

 

See, that was just stupid--I mean, FFS. The Braves moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta, and the Brewers are an expansion franchise. No way should the Brewers have the right to wear Braves unis, because they were never the Braves. If anything, they should wear Seattle Pilots uniforms.

 

Brewers aren't really expansion team

They did play as the Seattle Pilots. Do the Mariners wear Pilots uniforms for throwbacks?
