Let me throw this question out there . . . .

If some folks are saying you can be gay & Christian, can you be a Christian porn star ? ? ? I think you would have a extremely hard time convincing folks that Jesus would approve of folks engaging in sex outside of its original parameters (with a person of the opposite sex in marriage)**.

**Though it would be funny seeing Jenna Jameson or Lex Steele giving their testimony on TBN's PRAISE THE LORD or some other Christian themed programming :) . . . .

Can anybody be honest and see Jesus engaged in homosexual acts? As someone said earlier, Christian is defined as being 'like Christ'. I don't think we have any record in the Bible of Jesus engaging in gay or straight sexual encounters with the Disciples. Later on, Paul wrote many times about the sins of adultrey/fornication/homosexuality in the New Testament.

I'm not disputing that. I'm disputing the statement, "the only way to know him is through the Bible."

Scripture is great if you know what you're reading. A lot of good Jews that knew the stuff failed to recognize the Christ. Simply reading or knowing the scriptures is not enough, you need the Spirit to interpret to understand what's really being said. The Holy Spirit reveals to us the mysteries of the scripture and the personage of God through Christ.

You put quotes around something that wasn't a quote. Nobody said 'the only way to know him is through the bible'....the Bible is the word of God and his word is how we come to know him. That's quite a bit different statement.

There are a multitude of ways to know God, but those who seek him seek out what he said was him...his word.

    250+ posts.

Most of them are from Christian folks doing their best to convince Mark why he should treat the homosexual sinner worse than other sinners.

    Craptacular.

Some, but not all. Let me preface what I'm about to say with this: I'm totally against capital punishment in our judicial system.

Showing 'contempt' for priests? No. Leading people away from God? I could make an argument for it. Being rebellious? Depends on the circumstances. Working on the Sabbath? No. Careless handling of an animal? If it adversely affects the community, yeah, I could see the severity of that. Accidentally killing a pregnant woman? I could make an argument for that one, too. Eating leavened bread during the Feast of Unleavened Bread? Yes, but only because doing so is an outright defiance of God, and and utter disregard for how He saved the entire Hebrew race from Egyptian tyranny. Consuming blood? It would depend on the reasons for doing so. Sexual activity with a menstruating woman? No. Being gluttonous with food and drink? No.

The same could be said for those engaging in any other sinful behavior, such as excessive drinking, excessive eating, lust, hate, etc.

Remove the words 'abominable' and 'homosexuality', and your statement is still true. It's no different than someone who claims to be a Christian and gets drunk every weekend or surfs porn every day (like I used to).

He addressed 'sexual immorality'. (Matthew 15:19; Mark 7:21)
