Agreed. Sometimes the hardest thing is to know not only how to listen, but what to listen for.

It might actually speak more to the eventual dominance and theological control by the Pauline sects over the other early forms of Christianity.

It does not seem logical to me. If you accept that God took on flesh and died for the sins of mankind then how an you believe that the same God would allow Paul to misinform all the following generations about the meaning of those events? To me God would protect that process.

Point taken. Paul did have a huge influence in the Mediterranean. But with John surviving long after Paul was martyred, and his writings still being in agreement (but not parroting) those of Paul, I have a hard time swallowing the coercion theory.

You then take it that John the Evangelist actually wrote those books traditionally attributed to him.

That's what my research has indicated, yes.

Fair enough. Most of mine has shown that the Pauline writings predate the writings of John. Also that there is a very strong probability that the Gospel of John and Revelations aren't the work of the the traditionally attributed author.

    As does mine.

Really? Everything I've seen so far suggests at least Revelation, and I think his gospel as well, were written while he was in exile on Patmos. What have you seen to the contrary?

I still don't see a face to face meeting. The guys with him couldn't see anyone.

I believe Paul spoke with Jesus regularly - I believe he saw Him in visions - but no where (that I'm aware of) does it say that he saw Jesus face to face in the flesh

Ah, you didn't say that before.

No, that was after He ascended into heaven.
