    i read this book a couple of years ago ...

    Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why
    by Bart D. Ehrman

    makes the idea of an "infallible" bible seem like a stretch ... most textual scholars readily point out that the scribes didn't always get the words right as they made copies. try hand copying several hundred pages and i suspect you'll make some mistakes too.

    ehrman points out that one of the most famous bible parables (the woman caught committing adultery) was ADDED by scribes ...

    guess this is a bit like the old infallibility of the pope idea ... don't think too many people believe that the pope is ALWAYS right about church doctrine. just look at how many catholics use birth control.
