If you believe the parts of the bible that talk about salvation and Jesus then I suppose you could be a Christian and reject the bulk of the bible. It seems like an awkward position to take to me though. Why do you believe on part and reject another part? Are you deciding to believe stuff that you like and rejecting the part you do not? Is it done merely for convenience?

I cant say i know too many people that are well versed in the bible. Much less read it all to be able to pic out inconsistensies.

Most people i know are aware of Genesis, Revelations, The Gospels, a few Psalms and parables but thats about it.

Kinda might depend on what crosses the boundaries of fallability and into interpretation, like say Genesis, chapter I.

If you have that position what cirteria do you use to determine what is correct and from God and what is wrong and the product of human fallibility?

Good question. I don't think I could list all of the criteria that comes into play on determining what is correct and what is wrong but I do know human fallibility is a sure thing.

Like for an example..in my heart..I believe in God without any shadow of a doubt. But in my mind...things don't always make sense about God. I've had people tell me that's Satan talking to me, but I don't believe that. That's me making use of the sense God gave me. I don't believe in a vengeful God.

I guess what I'm saying is. I know, but I don't know, but I'm not worried about it..it's gonna be alright.

Absolutely. The only people I'm aware of that the Bible suggests are infallible are Jesus and maybe Elijah. Maybe.

Being a Christian is about being a devoted follower of Jesus, not about a book. The catch, however, is if you disregard the Bible, how do you know how to follow Jesus (especially seeing as how He revered it)?

I was so worried I was going to get ridiculed or offend someone for telling that. Thanks HB.

    Keep digging in the Bible?
