I have always been part of independent baptist churchs. I do think the SBC does some good but I tend to like the independent churches better.

I think the nature of the question that started this thread implies that the christian answer is desired. In that case the bible is the authority, not the SBC or the Pope or any other institiution of man.

Sampson killed himself and I believe he went to heaven.

    Romans 6:1-2; 6-7; 11-13

"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? ...For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin-- 7because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. ...In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness."

Exactly. Many of us have - few will admit it - but many people do on a daily basis. That's not to say that at any given time they're going to pop their own clogs - but many people (however fleetingly) consider it from time to time. I am one of those people - although I know that I will never do it - primarily because of my own spiritual beliefs and the love I (mostly) have for this life. I acknowledge this as part of the depression that I have suffered on and off most of my life. By admitting it, I've allowed myself that `room to breath' and that's usually a good time to reconnect with my spiritual side. This is the key thing though (for me) and that's something that has always helped me heal when I feel battle worn and weary.

I don't know if any of that makes sense - but I've just found myself sharing something I don't think I've ever shared before (to this level anyway). Man, this forum really makes you blab your tits off, doesn't it? :D.

If God ever convicted your heart and brought you to the place where you really see what your sin is then you will not have a desire to "sin sin sin" and it certainly will not be guilt free. It just will not send you to hell.

true but too many of them don't understand there is always hope. There's the hope that tomorrow will be better. There's the hope that maybe they'll meet someone to that will help them cope. Those that forget that there is hope out there are always the first to give up. If you are a Christian you understand that God never allows anyhting in our lives that we aren't able to handle. That given time we're all strong enough to get through all our emotional burdons, no matter how hard. That's where I gained my understanding of hope. I was bad off a while back, and I contemplated ending it, but when I started to understand the meaning of God never giving us anything that will be too hard for us as finding hope its kept me going. At the time mine was over a girl I loved and planned to marry. She left me for another guy. At the same time my mother was in the hospital and there was a chance she wasn't going to live. It was just after she'd found out my father had cheated on her. (That wasn't related to her being in the hospital though), and I was going though a period of college thinking that I'm never going to get finished and amount to anything in the world. My life to me looked hopeless.. Sure I know others have endured more than that, but for me it felt like rock bottom. Until I was able to understand that there is always hope. Once I reached that point I gathered all my strength and lived off the belief that tomorrow is going to be better than today. Now its been a few years later, my mother recoverde 100%, my parents worked out their problems and are probably better off than they've ever been, I've graduated college, have a good job, and I'm in love with a girl that I want to spend the rest of my life with. If you give up today and lose sight of the hope that there will be a better tomorrow you'll never know what good could be waiting for you in your future.

I'm opening this thread back up because as you know if you read my post in Rant&Rave, my friend committed suicide. I've researched Biblical references and what i've come to the conclusion of is:

If you are saved, even if you backslide and do something sinful like committing suicide or what not - you cannot do anything to loose your salvation. Once your saved you are saved.

But if you aren't saved and you shut your heart out to accepting Christ as your savior, then you will go to hell. I wasn't sure if he was saved or not, but I remember him saying one time that him and God wasn't getting along.

I saw a show one time where a man was saying he doesn't believe in God, but at the same time he was upset with God. But you can't be mad at God and not believe in Him at the same time.

Here is some info I found on this subject http://gotquestions.org/suicide.html

Only one way to get to heaven, through Christ Jesus.
