It's my understanding (Hasbeens or anyone else, correct me if I'm wrong), that the idea that only missionary style sex is acceptable, even in a marriage, originates not in the Bible but in later writings by Saint Augustine and/or other later but still "early" Christian theologians.

 

I haven't personally seen any such restrictions in Biblical doctrine, but that being said, the guideline a Christian should use (IMHO) is the fundamental purposes of sex (and no, it's not restricted to procreation), and what it represents -- the most intense love and intimacy a human being can experience. Somehow, domination fetishes and the like don't seem to fit that ideal.

 

I myself don't participate in the whole sub/dom culture, but know some people who do. From what I gather from them, a properly-paired dominant and submissive are truly fulfilling the inborn (or learned) inner needs of their partner in a controlled and agreed-upon fantasy environment. When this is the case, the relationship in question works in the best possible way, so long as boundaries are respected and the give-and-take nature of the setup is balanced. Poorly-matched couples or imbalanced relationships are another matter... as they are with any relationship... romantic, platonic, or business.
