I'm not sure whats going on inside Peppers' head, but I have a feeling he has been advised that "someone" will give him guaranteed money. Even though he laid an egg this year, he is still in the prime of his career and his agent will probably be looking for Freeny money or more. That is, unless Peppers has told his agent he is ready to quit football, which I doubt, but obviously we cannot rule out anything completely nowadays.

I think it should be like that for all players. They get different levels of base pay based on years of service in the league and tenure with team/s , then all of the rest is based on performing on the field.

does anyone give credence to the idea that if we'd been ahead in more games julius's numbers would have been better.

Possibly, but also if is numbers would have been better, we may have been ahead in more games.

The only ones likely to sign deals like that are the ones with big time questions. Nobody who has proven NFL ability will sign one.

we played about the same overall last year and he had a career high 13 sacks (though he did tail off late in the year, may or may not be related). We had a few critical-mass blowout losses this year, though.

He wasn't the same player. He wasn't as good against the run. It just wasn't like him.

It's far more likely he plays the way he had, than the way he has. I don't really think we can afford to lose him, and we really can't afford to skimp at RDE.

I've heard from multiple sources, some with legitimate ties to the team, that Peppers was indeed sick this year. As a result, he lacked the strength and energy he normally has.

Why are they trying so hard to keep that from being known then? Unless he has AIDS or something why would he be ashamed for people to know he has been sick.

How many times has it been said that "Americans are a forgiving people",,,,,,, you say your sorry, and folks will rally around you, always have.

His medical condition certainly isn't any of our business whatsoever, but if Peppers was indeed sick with ANYTHING, and if he made a public statement to such, you would have 99% of everyone get back on his bandwagon and support him immediately.
