Can Del Rio pull it off all year?

I think so, I hope so... I like the guy!

But with network TV saying this guy will be a head coach and with Del Rio openly saying he wants to be a head coach... its not the kind of talk I like to hear for a rookie "head cooridinator".

It takes a special person to motiviate the team when the team knows he has no intentions of remaining their leader...

This hopefully will not play out this year. I don't know what kind of committment he made here or if it matters.

If he finishes with a top 5 NFL defense this year, is he ready to move on? I don't know, what do you think?

i say we fire fox and keep del rio ... if it come to that. be a shame if we can't keep both.

Damn... brother... I'd rather keep both. You not like FOX or just like Del Rio better?

Del Rio is a career football man. He's not too far removed from his playing days, and relates well to his players. This D won't let up...he won't let them.
HOWEVER, if he doesn't get this D playing better in the last 5 min. of a game, he's not going anywhere.
They will play for him til he's gone, but I'd like to see him be a more aggresive coach even when protecting a lead.

like both of them a lot. which do i like better? dunno, it'd be a tuff call. i was just making aimless comment. we know pretty much what we have in Fox as a head coach and i think he's great and a winner. so'd it be chancy to go with del rio. sometimes great coordinators don't make great coaches. couse with the panthers luck, if they don't keep him he'll go off and win the super bowl for the next 15 years. if we released Fox, he'd be the one to win the next 15 superbowls. damned if we do, damned if we don't. my preference would be to keep both if we could ... but that's probably fantasy. sorta like hoping weinke will be decent at QB. i'm baiting you sandy ... don't reply to that.

i don't think his being mentioned as a head coach canidate will effect the players much. the team has much bigger and moe immediate concerns on their mind for this year.

The media (TV) was already hyping that this weekend. I thought it was a little soon, thats kind of why I broght it up, to get others opinon.

No worry on the baiting, I'm full now... :D

Actually, I was hurt...yes HURT...that Mills wasn't named the DC out of the gate. Not to say I don't like Del Rio, but I felt Mills has earned the shot.
Jack will be around three years minimum. Like I said, he needs to get the last 5 minutes figured out. Until he maintains his gameplan for more than 55 minutes, he's not ready for the HC ranks.

taking a 31st ranked defence to a top 5 (hope it stays that way with Morgan listed as doubtful) has to help his stock. I think we need to feel lucky if he stays 2 years.

i think he's a goner after this year. the cat seems to have it all and will gets all the credit for turning our defense around. on the other hand, henning may never get another coaching job. will be interesting if he remains. worst nitemare. del rio leaves, henning stays.
