    Also look at teams that will have ugly qb situations next year.
    Arizona-Palmer deal over
    Buffalo
    Jets
    Cleveland
    Houston
    The bidding would be ugly

    (Team names via espn this am)

    Fuck it, warts and all Cams ours

    As much as the contract hurts, the days of Testeverde, Moore, Weinke, Fasani, and Clausen are thankfully over.

    At the same time, Delhomme (pre-extension) and Beuerlein did well here on inexpensive deals.

    Delhomme was more pre-elbow than extension. If he hadn't fucked up his elbow the extension wouldn't have seemed sooooo bad. Still not a great deal for us but not a complete clusterfuck that it was.

    Not really too bad....manageable

    @corryjoel: Cam Newton's 2015-2020 salary cap numbers are $13M, $19.5M, $20.166M, $21.5M, $23.2M & $21.1M.

    And with the ability to "carryover" unused cap the $1.7m we save this year can be rolled over to next year. I think.

    No, the elbow is a convenient excuse but had nothing to do with anything. Post-surgery in 2008, Jake performed at roughly the same level he always had. He was always a mediocre quarterback, just as Cam is now. Mediocre quarterbacks are fine as long as you're not paying them an exorbitant amount and then spend the money saved wisely on other team needs (which Gettleman obviously won't). The differences with Cam are obviously that he's a lot younger, is perceived to have the potential for continued improvement, and he's worth far more to the organization from a marketing standpoint.

    Yes, really. Obviously if Cam's 2015 cap figure was higher, then the following ones would be lower. If you don't understand something I write then just ask.
