Yeah, that's not even remotely true, as was previously discussed. We did go on one too often, but there wasn't even one game where we didn't use other counts, much less more. Plus, as noted in that other thread, the count in the game is called by the QB and not the OC (sometimes called by the OC in practices, though).

 

WR Jahkeen Gilmore, #15, was returning kicks during yesterday's morning session. If he has a good preseason, we should keep him. You need more than one good return man.

Andrew Wellock actually has a decent leg. He can get the ball out there. I would say keep him as a KO specialist, but probably not a strong enough leg to warrent a roster spot. I'd like to see him do it in the preseason, though.

Salley is fine.

Steven Jackson is a strong guy. He might be a good TE/H back player in this offense, although I'd hope he has some receiving skills.

DT Stephen Williams, #98, might be this year's Tony Brown. He has a very good motor and seems like a guy who could help us on third down. I doubt we will keep him over Moorehead, but between the two, I like Williams better. At the least, I hope we leave that last DT spot open for competition (we did keep 6 going into last season). Brent Curvey has also looked good. I haven't seen much of Lavalias, but he seems a little out-of-shape compared to every one else. I don't see him staying around for long.



edit - I forgot Carstens was gone, so we'll probably keep one of those unknown guys anyway.

They were talking about Stephen Williams in OTA's, saying that he had potential. It sounds like he'll stick around since Carstens couldn't play.

 

Hes saying we went on one too often (which made us predictable) but not every time as Yas seems to think.
