Magazu as well, I imagine. And I remember hearing that that was part of the idea with the change - personality conflict and a little too much hardass. Sometimes intense people can be more intense if they're not being beaten down, or at least that's an interpretation that fits.

well, that's no good. He seemed to have some promise.

we're deep enough depending on what happens with Bridges, and what happens with Butler.

    ha

that's in the playbook, but sure, he needs to be in here. Either way, he's playing WLB right now assumably, and Seward is his #2. That's how it's been so far this year.

odd time to struggle specifically, but I do wish that he'd start to show something, because he's been given opportunities and now he has some other hungry depth around him.

    what's he doing?

good to hear. he's solid enough for #4.

heard that before on Minter, but he'll be in there. Wish Wilson could put it on and overtake Salley, if Cooper can't.

Two more things i had written down on a separate sheet of paper, Kasay was solid but Baker shanked about 30% of his punts.

and man does Carr have a funky delivery.

Chris Horn, #81, is a small dude.

Jarrett has soft hands. They felt great on my shoulders.

That is encouraging about Strait. I always thought he was a decent player in NY, so it would great to have him for depth.

Me too. None of them will be going to the Pro Bowl, but I'm becoming a believer in Chryst. He seemes like a terrific coach, and his hands on approach contrasts Magazu's, who was always more of a line coach anyway.

Also, this is a little strange, but guys generally seem to be in a better mood this year. Last year everyone looked a little more uptight and cranky. I'm not saying it will mean shit for the season, and it could very well be the result of cooler weather, but it's nice to see a little more enthusiasm.

Panthers | Salley and Cooper may be starters
    Mon, 30 Jul 2007 14:35:07 -0700

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports the Carolina Panthers may use FS Deke Cooper and SS Nate Salley as their starting safeties, with FS Mike Minter being a primary backup.

    Starting safties: Salley, Cooper?
SPARTANBURG – On Monday morning, the Panthers lined up with Nate Salley and Deke Cooper as their first-team safeties as veteran Mike Minter strolled the sidelines.

It was only one practice, but don’t completely rule out the possibility of the Panthers opening the season with Salley and Cooper as their starters. As much as fans might not want to hear it, the popular Minter could end up spending his final NFL season as a backup.

Even though the Panthers didn’t address the safety position in free agency or early in the draft, Minter, who took a cut in pay to backup money, could end up being a reserve. His age started to show last season. Although Salley and Cooper aren’t household names and don’t have much experience, they do have young legs.

Maybe periodic rest sessions will keep Minter fresh enough to start. Or maybe the time Minter spends on the sidelines will show the Panthers the upside of having young legs at safety

I noticed Minter on the sideline an awful lot. I figured they were just resting him.

Has he looked as shitty as everyone has indicated?

Good vision, hits the hole low and with authority. makes solid cuts and gets back into high gear.

If Haynes is more decisive than Shelton, which is what I've heard, than he could be the guy who makes it.

News 2 just showed some clips and it looked like Carr was wearing gloves. Is it still raining down there or did he not want to mess up his nails?
