Team Capsules report from Gary Parrish of the Memphis Commercial Appeal...
    (5) CHARLOTTE
    Record: 20-7, 12-4.
Matchup: vs. Tulane today at noon CST.

What's at stake: With an RPI of 31 and victories over Syracuse, DePaul, Cincinnati and Louisville, the 49ers are a lock for the NCAA Tournament, meaning if Bobby Lutz wanted to get his dignity back this week by sitting his two recently arrested players, he'd be safe. That won't happen, of course, and as a result the 49ers have a chance to advance to Saturday and earn a higher seed even if they've cheapened their reputation to get it.

I've fired off an email to him about editorializing and not finding out all the facts. I encourage others to do so too.

those players already served suspensions- i dont see the need for lutz to get his reputation back. the problem has been dealt with.

I took that blurb as saying that he could take this opportunity to impose longer suspensions and really not lose much. A loss today or a win Sunday probably only moves the 49ers one seed either way.

When the CUSA break happens and Calamari leaves Memphis and all the information starts coming out on the program he ran (I am sure to everyone's surprise :laugh1: ) I will be interested to hear what Mr. Parrish has to say about dignity and what has been cheapened.

You don't suspend a kid. Let him play, then suspend him again just because you are playing a cupcake.

I see no logic in Lutz getting his "dignity" back by doing that.

In fact it would show just the opposite. If he suspends them for this one more game because it's a "throw away" game then that would look pretty disingenuous to me.

If they served a suspension then let it go.

That was a very cheap shot for a reporter to take.

Demon's deal is a dead issue now and the Withers' story published is no where close to what occurred. 3 attempts for him to blow .09, there are photos taken that night that show no damage to the vehicle supposedly hit. One officer didn't want to pursue it and the other one did (witch hunt perhaps), I can't take sides on that part of it, but it shows there was likely little that occurred.

Any first-year lawyer would destory the case. And of course (I'm guilty of this too), everyone has passed judgement and there will be no telling in the media of the real events either.

Contrary to my previous belief, I must not work in hell, because the temperature didn't just drop.

I am, however, in shock. :scared2:
