    The Carolina Panthers have claimed wide receiver Mareno Philyaw off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons and have signed free agent tackle Jay Humphrey. To make room on the roster, Carolina waived/injured wide receiver Ryan Tolhurst and waived tackle Terrance Sykes.

    Tolhurst got injured and then they waived him. That's gotta suck.

    Damn. No loyalty there.

    Explain to me why Jeffers is still here then.

    I guess they could have put him on the PUP, I even read that the coaches were impressed up to this point.

    Maybe with the question mark on the injury, they figure he'll still be there to put on the practice squad after he clears waivers.
