Think of this...had Seifert still been in control, this move would have NEVER happened. Remember when there were a handful of teams interested in Morobito (who was better than Williams IMO) and we simply released him. Miami and Balt. were 2 teams I know were interested and George didn't seem interested in any deals...for a guy we were going to release?
Could have at least garnered a 4-5 rounder for him then.

That's what I love about this deal...it actually happened and Williams was on his way out anyway.

Peter King seems to think Jay for a 4th rounder was a steal for the Dolphins, or maybe I'm reading this differently than y'all might:

I think the Dolphins' trade with Carolina for Jay Williams, an above-average defensive end, was a good one. Getting Williams for a fourth-round pick and putting him into a good rotation on the defensive line is another feather in the cap of a vastly underrated personnel man, Rick Spielman, and a coach, Dave Wannstedt, who isn't afraid to make a gutsy move like cutting a good player -- but an injury risk -- in Darryl Gardener a week before camp and inserting Williams.

above average? Jay must've been on the phone trying to convince King of that. How an "above average" defensive end puts up one sack (on a stunt) and continually loses contain is beyond me.

Peter King also thought Donald Hayes was the final piece to make the Patriots invincible. He's a great writer IMO but he has a tendancy to see a rosier picture than reality.

Williams has signed a 3-year extension, WTF!

Nice to see Wanny is still a complete and utter IDIOT! Granted, he's not the only one involved in the decision making process...but his ignorance to personell issues seems to be contagious, it's laughable!
